Courtland Guillory Recaps "Shocking" Tennessee Visit
Tennessee is coming off a successful Saturday full of visitors. Many top names and new faces were on campus for the Tennessee vs. Alabama basketball game. One of the new players on campus was Courtland Guillory.
Guillory is a fast-rising prospect from the state of Texas. He plays high school ball at Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas. The Texas prospect is a defensive back in the 2025 class. He recently caught up with Volunteer Country following his visit to Tennessee to let everyone know how it went.
“It was a great experience for sure; I got to go to the basketball game, and the energy in the arena was crazy. I could just imagine how a football game would be,” the prospect stated immediately. When asked who he got to talk to, he responded, “I got to talk to Coach [Willie] Martinez in his office. I even met his wife, who had a great personality. I also got to talk to Coach [Josh] Heupel.” Guillory followed that statement by saying, “I watched some films with Coach Martinez. He tested my IQ by asking me a couple of questions during the film. We were also drawing up coverage on the board. I played Coach Heupel in putt putt. Then he took me to his office, where we talked about the city of Knoxville and the fanbase down in Knoxville.”
As mentioned before, he was at the Alabama vs. Tennessee game, in which the Volunteers won in dominant fashion. “The game was a great experience. I got a small taste of what football season would be like. Even though it was a snowstorm and there was tons of ice everywhere, the game was still packed with tons of energy. I can’t wait to come back for a football game.” There was a Tennessee commit in attendance for the game as well. Jack Vandorselaer was in attendance, and when asked if he got the chance to meet the Tennessee commit, Guillory responded, “I didn’t get a chance to meet him. I did talk to a couple of guys who were on the same visit as me, though. We kind of talked about how cool the experience was and just how we were enjoying our time down in Knoxville.”
When talking about visit plans, Guillory stated, “I just don’t know if it’ll be in the summer or the spring, but I’ll definitely make it to a game in the fall. Roman Goode told me something about a cookout in the summer, but I don’t know if that’s for sure.” The talented prospect was asked what word he would use to describe the visit he had taken. “Shocking, mainly because I really didn’t know I was going to get offered. Also, the whole tour of the school was just a shocking experience to me,” Guillory stated.
The recruiting scene is full of top schools and things of that nature. When asked if he would consider Tennessee to be in his top schools, the talented defensive back replied, “After this recent visit, I would for sure say Tennessee is up there on my list. All of their staff showed me love the whole time I was down there. They made a really good first impression on me and my family.” Tennessee seems to be in a good place in this recruitment, as they made a great impression.
