Alabama Trending For Four-Star OT Daniel Calhoun

The Tennessee Volunteers are hard after 2024 four-star offensive tackle Daniel Calhoun, but the Alabama Crimson Tide are surging after his weekend official visit.
In this story:

2024 four-star offensive tackle Daniel Calhoun has kept things quiet thus far. Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Texas have known they have legitimate shots at him, with the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide standing out from the pack for the last few months. The Vols made up ground when they hosted Calhoun on their 865 Live Event during Memorial Day weekend, but a recent official visit has him trending elsewhere.

Calhoun has shared with multiple media outlets that Alabama is his top school after his official visit. Head coach Nick Saban and company laid out the red carpet, welcoming Calhoun's family and making him a top priority. It helps that the Crimson Tide have a storied history of putting offensive linemen into the first round of the NFL Draft - eight Alabama offensive linemen have become first-round picks since the 2012 NFL Draft.

A Power-5 offensive coordinator shared with me earlier this offseason that he believes Calhoun is a first-round talent anywhere along the offensive line. That's high praise, and Calhoun is making his college choice based on who can get him to the NFL. Various other factors weigh into his choice, but when you boil it down, this is a 6-7.5, 350-pound offensive tackle. Those guys play on Sundays. Tennessee hosts him on an official visit this weekend and will do their best to show that they, too, can get him to that next level.
