George MacIntyre Intrigued By Clemson After March Visit
The Tennessee Volunteers are exhausting all their options while recruiting quarterbacks. They have a handful of targets in the 2025 cycle, none more important than in-state signal caller George MacIntyre. The five-star Tennessee native has been a Vol lean for months, but a recent visit to Clemson is worth monitoring.
The Tigers hosted MacIntyre on March 15, and the early returns are promising. Clemson has also been exhausting the 2025 quarterback board, recently hosting Tennessee targets Cutter Boley and Antwann Hill. MacIntyre is the latest in that line, and the illustrious passer is listening to Clemson.
It was his first look at the Clemson staff and what they offer. Head coach Dabo Swinney has historically done an excellent job recruiting top quarterbacks, recently signing Trevor Lawerence, Deshaun Watson, DJ Uiagalelei, and Cade Klubnik. All were prestigious high school prospects that rewrote the record books in their home states.
MacIntyre may do the same thing by the time he leaves Brentwood Academy. He accounted for 25 total touchdowns against just four interceptions as a sophomore, his first true starting action. MacIntyre also is a standout basketball player, reporting offers from Arizona State and FIU. Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel attended one of his January basketball games, signifying the Vols' interest.
Clemson getting in on this battle is quite noteworthy, as Tennessee didn't have much competition entering the weekend. There have been some Vanderbilt murmurs; MacIntyre has visited the Commodores twice and will be on campus on Tuesday.
Nonetheless, On3's Jeremy Johnson reports that there is some real interest between the two sides. Clemson hasn't offered a single 2025 prospect, meaning MacIntyre is still waiting before things can ramp up, which could ultimately provide the Volunteers an edge. It's still a subplot worth monitoring as we creep toward the summer months when rising junior quarterbacks tend to announce their decisions.
