Joey Halzle Serves As The Key In Deuce Knight, George MacIntyre Recruitments

Tennessee Volunteers offensive coordinator Joey Halzle has played an instrumental role in four-star quarterback Deuce Knight's recruitment, and he can be the reason they land him.
In this story:

Tennessee offensive coordinator Joey Halzle has a lot of expectations entering his first season at the controls. The Vols achieved historic offensive passing efficiency marks with head coach Josh Heupel and his former OC Alex Golesh. Golesh left in the offseason to take the USF head coaching gig, leaving Halzle as the next man up.

Halzle has been with Heupel for a long time and has been instrumental in some of his quarterback success stories. He worked closely with now Detroit Lions quarterback Hendon Hooker, aiding him en route to a fantastic two-year career with Tennessee. He also has maximized transfer quarterback Joe Milton III, a player riddled with accuracy issues at Michigan who now has ten passing touchdowns against zero interceptions in an orange uniform.

He has spent the spring narrowing down Tennessee's 2025 quarterback options. Halzle visited several prospects, and now the coaching staff has settled on two signal callers: in-state product George MacIntyre and Mississippi native Deuce Knight. The Vols have been pursuing MacIntyre since Halzle had initial influence, and the two sides have grown close. Their relationship is strong and is a big reason why the Vols are the favorite for him. Halzle has also spent a lot of time recruiting Knight. He's stayed consistent in contacting his high school coaches, and now the Vols have warmed on Knight. His sophomore tape made them think highly enough to pursue him seriously and express that they wanted him in their class. Tennessee is viewed as the favorite in his recruitment, as well.

Tennessee likely won't take both, but their ultimate decision could lie with Halzle. He's the one who will spend time closely with them each day of their career and knows them well enough at this point to make that decision. His diligence on the recruiting trail has the Vols in a good spot with both and enough information to pursue accordingly.
