Joey Halzle Visits George MacIntyre

Tennessee Volunteers offensive coordinator Joey Halzle visited five-star quarterback George MacIntyre this week, one of their top 2025 priorities.

According to sources, Tennessee offensive coordinator Joey Halzle stopped by Brentwood Academy to see five-star quarterback George MacIntyre this past week. Brentwood hosts several major programs each week, but the Vols are becoming frequent visitors.

Tennessee's coaching staff has been waiting for a close look at the 2025 quarterback class for a while. They landed quarterback Jake Merklinger in the upcoming 2024 cycle, landing him early in the process. However, several elite talents in the 2025 class caught their eye early in the process.

  • Cutter Boley
  • Antwann Hill
  • Deuce Knight
  • KJ Lacey
  • George MacIntyre

The Vols shared interest in each of these prospects during the past calendar year. Each prospect has visited campus and impressed the coaching staff, and head coach Josh Heupel has, in turn, impressed them. Tennessee will always be in the running for the country's best signal callers as long as he is at the helm. September 1 marks the first day that head coaches can directly communicate with 2025 recruits, meaning coaching staffs are beginning to narrow down the board. As we approach that day, the Vols are beginning to focus on a few quarterbacks. MacIntyre, Knight, and Lacey are getting consistent interest from Tennessee, and sources indicate they have softened their position on the other names.

MacIntyre has a legitimate case to be 2025's No. 1 quarterback. The Tennessee native has a big arm, strong athletic traits, and is a Power-5 basketball player. He doesn't turn the football over and comes from a college-ready system at Brentwood Academy. MacIntyre consistently shows up at top events and throws as well as any other prospect in America.
