Tennessee Offers Fast-Rising 2026 Quarterback

The Tennessee Volunteers are known to offer quarterbacks early. They did that again on Tuesday, extending an offer to 2026 quarterback Kane Archer, a high school freshman.
In this story:

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel has been known to get an early start on quarterbacks. He zeroed in on 2023 signee Nico Iamaleava early and is already keying in on several important 2025 quarterbacks.

Quarterback Kane Archer is a name that fans can add to the list. The Greenwood, Arkansas, native holds 13 offers, including Arkansas, Michigan, Louisville, Missouri, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Florida State. Tennessee added their name to his offer sheet on Tuesday.

At Greenwood High School this past season, Archer showed the arm strength to throw the ball all over the field and the pinpoint accuracy needed on shorter throws. He has the speed to elude defenders on the ground, and he is not afraid of contact, whether running or staying in the pocket.

The 6-foot, 193-pound quarterback can extend plays and go off-script. Before this season, Tommy Tabler wrote that Archer was “one of the most impressive quarterbacks that I have seen in 17 years of covering college football recruiting.”

Tabler was extremely impressed by Kane Archer’s accuracy, arm strength, mobility, decision-making, pocket presence, and intangibles. These are all traits you look for in a do-it-all quarterback.

Obviously, Archer is a long, long way away from college. Programs are still putting together their recruiting board for the 2024 class, let alone the 2026 class. Still, it's an interesting development, as Heupel has been known to recruit top quarterbacks early.
