2025 Four-Star CB Kevyn Humes High On Tennessee After First Recruitment Cut
The Tennessee Volunteers continue to do their due diligence on the recruiting trail. The coaching staff is recruiting many different defensive backs with varying skill sets. The bottom line is that they need to improve their defensive backfield; 2025 four-star corner Kevyn Humes (Baltimore, Md.) is one of their most recent additions to the recruiting board.
Humes stands 5-11 and 170 pounds with a lot of man coverage experience. That fits the billing Tennessee wants - their offensive system is fantastic, but it forces the defense to be on the field upward of 100 times per game. You can't scheme in elaborate designs every play when defenders are on the field that much. Sometimes, you just have to line up across from the offense and make a better play. Humes has been doing that for years at Saint Francis Academy High School. The coaches often allow Humes to take one of the top wideouts and cover them all over the field. Humes does his work on the boundary and in the slot, as he excels in space.
Humes cut his recruitment down to eight schools on Sunday afternoon. He will focus on Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Maryland, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, and Tennessee moving forward, though he did note that his recruitment is still open. The Vols got him on camps in January and are hoping for a return visit soon, as they have plenty of other high-caliber competition fighting after Humes.
