Mike Matthews Standing Out At Polynesian Bowl Practices

2024 five-star wide receiver Mike Matthews (Lilburn, Ga.) signed his national letter of intent with the Tennessee Volunteers and is turning heads before his college career starts.

Parkview High School wide receiver Mike Matthews had a strong high school career and capped it off by signing his national letter of intent with the Tennessee Volunteers. Matthews was the No. 20 prospect in the 2024 cycle, according to 247Sports' Composite Rankings. He amassed 135 receptions for 2,545 yards and 25 touchdowns during his four-year career.

He was selected as an Under Armour All-American and made many plays during the Orlando, Florida, event. Matthews then joined the team for the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl before flying to Honolulu, Hawaii, for the Polynesian Bowl. Matthews is one of five Tennessee signees playing in the game, and he's already turning heads.

"Matthews was a repeat honoree on our top-performer team and looked every bit as smooth and explosive as he did Monday. He was getting deep at will and was the favorite target among his teams quarterbacks. Matthews was solid at the Under Armour AA Game practices a few weeks ago but has really stood out this week. He has burst, long speed and hands and should compete for early playing time in college. He came in with a big rep and has lived up to it and we really like his long-term potential." - 247Sports on Mike Matthews during the Polynesian Bowl
