Peyton Lewis Narrows Recruitment

Four-star running back Peyton Lewis announced his top six schools on Friday afternoon, and, as expected, the Tennessee Volunteers are in the mix.
In this story:

The Tennesee Volunteers have been working hard on the recruiting front. If there is a notable prospect you have heard of, the chances are that head coach Josh Heupel and his staff have done their due diligence.

With the commitment of 2024 quarterback Jake Merklinger at the end of March, the Vols have their cornerstone prospect in the class. His decision allows the Vols to piece together a core group of offensive recruits. One of those may end up finding his way to Rocky Top very soon. Running back Peyton Lewis out of Salem High School in Virginia announced his list of top six schools on Friday afternoon, with the Tennessee Volunteers being one of the finalists. Tennessee comes in alongside four other SEC schools in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and South Carolina, as well as Penn State as the lone non-SEC school in the running.

Lewis is 6-0 and 190 pounds, with blazing speed, doubling as a track standout in the state of Virginia. As a multi-time state champ, Lewis knows what it takes to win and is exactly the type of prospect that Josh Heupel wants to work with. Peyton has been fixated on Tennesee for quite some time, which is a great sign for Volunteer fans. After being offered in early February, Lewis attended both Tennessee's Junior Day and spring game and is following up with an official visit at the end of June, along with several other top prospects.
