In this story:

Tennessee baseball has been on a roll as of late when it comes to the recruiting trail. They have landed multiple targets that many teams wanted. One of those targets is the a recent Volunteer commit, Sawyer Deering.

Deering is a class of 2025 prospect who pitches and bats as a righty. He committed to the Vols back on November 13th. He plays outfield and pitcher but plans to play pitcher as a Tennessee Volunteer. Shortly after his commitment to the Vols Deering, he took the time to speak with Volunteer Country.

“The culture that Coach V and the rest of the coaches have going on there is what drove me to want to commit to Tennessee,” the young prospect confirms. The Tennessee commit then goes on to talk about Coach Vitello and what stands out the most when talking about Coach V. “Just the way they go about things—how he runs the program and treats it like a big family—is what catches my eye about Coach Vitello and the coaching staff.”

Some may not know, but Deering has played with some Volunteer commits in the past and has spoken with some Tennessee players as well. “I have played with some of the Tennessee commits.” Deering then says, “Carson Brumbaugh and Tate Strickland are the guys I’ve played with. I was also with Drew Beam, AJ Russell, and Christian Moore on my visit.” He then goes on to say, “Their message to me was to just go where your heart is. That was pretty much the main message.” He talks about what he looks forward to the most, and he states, “Being able to play high-quality baseball in the best conference and being part of the Vols family.”
