Steve Wiltfong Has Tennessee As Top Team For George MacIntyre
2025 quarterback dominoes continue to fall to start the New Year. As we know, top quarterbacks can influence the decisions of other prospects, which is why most top high school gunslingers choose to get their recruitments out of the way early. Brentwood Academy quarterback George MacIntyre is the No. 2 quarterback in the cycle and is the top uncommitted one in the class.
However, it won't be long before MacIntyre is off the board. He updated his timeline with On3's Chad Simmons last week, touting Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee as his top three schools. After five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood chose LSU, 247Sports's Steve Wiltfong reported that Alabama and Tennessee are MacIntyre's top teams. You can read Wiltfong's full update on the situation here, including notes on other top 2025 quarterbacks, but the momentum for the Vols is building in this one.
"After talking to several sources, the intel indicates that Tennessee is in the best position to secure a verbal from MacIntyre who is definitely in decision mode with a commitment that could come in the very near future. With that being said, most of those same sources mention the love that MacIntyre has for Nick Saban and how the Crimson Tide still have a pulse in this one. The way that Josh Heupel has rebuilt the Vols program, the offense, the energy from the fans and the opportunity to come in and take the reins from Nico Iamaleava, who just finished the first of what is definitely a three-year plan in Knoxville, is very exciting for MacIntyre. The in-state pull is definitely real in this recruitment."
You can't count out the Crimson Tide in any recruitment, especially for top quarterbacks. Alabama will keep swinging in the leadup to MacIntyre's announcement, and it should be a fun ride moving forward. Wiltfong shared that the relationship between MacIntyre and Alabama head coach Nick Saban is strong, which is important to note.
"Saban is the head coach MacIntyre talks to the most of his finalists. Trips to Tuscaloosa in the past have been special and he loves everything that program stands for. We’ll see if Alabama can pull this one out but the buzz is around Tennessee."
