Kevin McCullar’s NBA Tour Continues
Former Texas Tech forward Kevin McCullar continued his work toward deciding whether to stay in the NBA Draft or return to college basketball, even though it won’t be for the Red Raiders.

McCullar worked out for the Boston Celtics last week as part of that preparation for making a decision. As an underclassman, he needs to make a decision by June 1 to either stay in the draft or return to college.
McCullar posted about his visit to the Celtics on social media.
McCullar averaged 10.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists for the Red Raiders last season, as he helped them reach the Sweet 16, and was the only remaining link to the program’s 2019 national finals run.
McCullar announced after the season that he would test the NBA waters, which allows him to work out for pro scouts, get evaluations from the NBA and participate in the NBA Combine if invited.
But shortly after, McCullar also announced his intention to enter the transfer portal. Then, early last week, he announced that if he returned to college, it would not be with the Red Raiders. He let everyone know on social media that his two choices would be either Gonzaga or Texas Tech’s Big 12 rival, Kansas. The Jayhawks won the national title in April.

That didn’t sit well with some Red Raiders fans, especially since it came a day or two after former teammate Terrence Shannon Jr. announced that he was transferring to Illinois.
But Texas Tech coach Mark Adams — who has worked with McCullar for four seasons — displayed no hard feelings in his response to the news last week on Twitter:
We should all wish @Kevin_McCullar the best on his decision to remain in the NBA Draft. These are difficult decisions for our student-athletes and he deserves our respect. This was a mutual decision that I believe will work out as he pursues his dream of playing in the NBA.
McCullar retweeted Adams’s statement.
Adams has been working overtime in the transfer portal and recently pulled one of the highest-ranked players in the transfer market in 6-11 Utah Valley center Fardaws Aimaq, who averaged a double-double last season. The Red Raiders have also taken in Gardner-Webb guard D’Maurian Williams, who shot nearly 40 percent from the 3-point line last season.
