Texas' Bats Go Cold In 6-3 LSU Loss: Live Game Log

The Longhorns look to extend their winning streak on Friday night against the Tigers.

Riding high on the momentum of a six-game winning streak, the No. 15 Texas Longhorns (6-1) enter the Astros Foundation College Classic ready to make a strong early season statement. The statement? That they're a team to look out for to make it to Omaha.

Standing in their way, though, is undoubtedly the toughest test so far of their young season. Opening up the weekend against the No. 3 LSU Tigers, the Longhorns will have their work cut out for them if they hope to pull off the upset.

On the mound for the Longhorns will be staff ace Lebarron Johnson Jr., fresh off an outing that saw him toss eight shutout innings with eight strikeouts to earn Big 12 Pitcher of the Week. Another dominant outing from him would be a massive boost for Texas.

Offensively, Texas knows what it's getting out of the duo atop the lineup in Jared Thomas and Peyton Powell. Now, though, is the time for the other seven hitters in the lineup to put it together consistently and start mashing against a dynamite Tigers' pitching staff.

Stay tuned as we provide live updates as the Longhorns take on the Tigers from Minute Maid Park on Friday evening.
