While the Texas Longhorns have at times struggled to find consistency in their pitching staff, namely the bullpen and their No. 2 and 3 starters, one arm has consistently shut down opposing lineups - staff ace Lucas Gordon.

Every Friday night the Longhorns have sent Gordon to the mound in game one of their weekend series and he has consistently given them dominant outings while making opposing lineups look silly.

That was the case once again when the Longhorns opened their series against the TCU Horned Frogs despite the series starting on Saturday instead of the usual Friday night.

Gordon toed the rubber against the Horned Frogs and tossed a career-high eight innings, holding them to four runs on six hits while striking out five en route to improving his record on the season to 5-0.

His dominant outing earned Gordon Big 12 Co-Pitcher of the Week honors as he shared the award with West Virginia's Blaine Traxel for his performance against Baylor.

On the season Gordon now has a sparkling 2.16 ERA to go with his 5-0 record, an ERA that sits atop the Big 12. He also sits third in total strikeouts at 72 behind Kansas State's Owen Boerema and Oklahoma State's Juaron Watts-Brown.

There are only three starts left in the regular season left for Gordon, with two of those coming in conference play against Kansas and West Virginia. If he continues to shine in those three starts, especially those final two conference starts, then he is well on his way to being named Big 12 Pitcher of the Year.
