No. 16 Texas Takes Season Opener Over San Diego 7-3: Live Game Log

The Longhorns get their 2024 season started against the Toreros at home.

Ladies and gentleman, after a long offseason we are officially back. Your No. 16 Texas Longhorns are once again preparing for the journey to Omaha as they kick off their season against the San Diego Toreros. 

The Longhorns came painstakingly close to making their 39th trip to the College World Series last summer, but ultimately came up just short against Stanford in the Super Regional. Now, they turn their attention to 2024. 

Their lineup features a mix of returning talent in Jared Thomas and Porter Brown along with two freshman earning their first starts in Nik Sanders and Will Gasparino. On the mound is Lebarron Johnson Jr., who has the potential to be one of the premier starting pitchers in the country this season.
