Alabama Transfer Isaiah Bond Commits to Texas

Former Alabama Crimson Tide standout receiver transfer Isaiah Bond has committed to the Texas Longhorns.
In this story:

As expected, following the retirement of legendary Alabama head coach Nick Saban there has been some roster movement for the Crimson Tide.

Unlike the rest of college football players who may want to transfer but cannot, Alabama players now have a 30-day transfer portal window.

While Saban reportedly implored them to stick around and see who would replace him, one player jumped into the portal right away, which was the Crimson Tide's leading receiver, Isaiah Bond.

And now, Alabama's loss has become the Texas Longhorns gain, with Bond committing to Steve Sarkisian and the Horns on Sunday morning.

"Just like the business world, you make the best decision for your company," Bond told ESPN. "My company right now is my draft stock. I feel like I'm putting myself in position to increase that and have better draft stock."

Bond was coming off of a visit to the Longhorns which he scheduled almost immediately after officially entering the transfer portal.

Landing Bond is a huge get for Texas which is losing its top five playmakers on offense. In fact, between their three receivers and one tight end who is off to the NFL, the Longhorns are losing 217 catches, 3,046 yards, and 19 touchdowns with Xavier Worthy, Adonai Mitchell, Jordan Whittington, and Ja'Tavion Sanders all departing.

The Longhorns do have promising youngsters ready and waiting, but no coach in college football, if given the chance, will turn down a proven playmaker for potential. And Bond is exactly that.

Adding Bond to the mix of Matthew Golden, Johntay Cook, and Ryan Wingo now arguably gives Texas the most talented wide receiver group in the SEC, and maybe in the country.

And alongside star QB Quinn Ewers and one of the best offensive lines in the country, the Horns the Horns offense looks like it will once again be one of the best in the nation.

"I like the whole package that comes with it," Bond said to ESPN. "Great quarterback, they have a great offensive line. "I felt like it was a great spot for me to come to."

This past season, Bond racked up a team-high 48 catches this season, while racking up 668 yards and four scores.

He was also the hero of the Iron Bowl vs. Auburn, catching a miracle touchdown in the corner of the end zone as time expired.
