College GameDay Coming to Texas Longhorns vs. Oklahoma Sooners
The Texas Longhorns are taking on the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry in Dallas on Saturday for one of the most anticipated matchups of the season. Fans will have to wait for the Sunday reveal of the AP Poll to find out where the two teams will be ranked.
As a result of the hype in a battle between two undefeated teams, ESPN's College Gameday is hitting the road and heading to the Cotton Bowl for the newest edition of the legendary on-site pregame show.
The Longhorns (5-0) were a part of the featured matchup on College Gameday earlier this season when they beat the then-No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, 34-24. Texas has won three straight since, including a 40-14 win over the No. 24 Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday.
College Gameday's trip to the Cotton Bowl this Saturday will mark the eighth all-time appearance for the award-winning game day show at Red River. The last time came in 2021 when Oklahoma won a 55-48 thriller after Texas blew a 28-7 lead.
For the Longhorns, this College GameDay appearance is their 22nd all-time. Last season, Texas was featured on GameDay in matchups against Alabama and TCU.
Overall, the Longhorns are 11-10 when included in the feature matchup and 3-4 when the Red River Showdown is the show's focus.
Texas and Oklahoma will be up against some major College Football Playoff implications on Saturday. A win by either side would be considered a "signature" one when the selection committee potentially factors in the Longhorns or Sooners in the CFP in a few months.
Of course, late-season upsets can still happen, but this game could end up playing a massive role in the CFP picture in hindsight.
