Kansas State Coach Chris Klieman Thinks 2023 Longhorns Are 'Best Texas Team' He's Seen

Kansas State coach Chris Klieman had the highest praise for the Longhorns during a media session on Tuesday

Whenever fans of college football had discussed the Texas Longhorns over the past decade, there were two trains of thought.

Some fans assumed every year was "their year" while others believed Texas was destined to continue falling on their face. However, the narrative around the No. 7 Longhorns has changed this season, as they are finally as complete a team as any, and aren't making the same mistakes of the past.

So much so that when other teams talk about them, there appears to be a newfound respect. Something we saw with Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman recently, who was discussing just how good this team is.

"I think this might be the best Texas team that I've seen in my five years collectively," Klieman said Tuesday. "When I say that, it's because I don't see any weakness on either side of the line of scrimmage of special teams. I think their team is playing with a ton of confidence. They believe they're going to be successful."

Klieman also touched on what makes this Texas team different and tricky to play against this season.

"They're playing at a really high level," Klieman said. "They're really physical up front, both sides of the line of scrimmage. Really good skill kids on both sides."

The Longhorns are four-point favorites against Kansas State this weekend, with ESPN's matchup predictor giving Texas a 66.7 percent chance of winning.

Texas will again be starting redshirt freshman Maalik Murphy who is filling in for the injured Quinn Ewers.
