In this story:

There are few things in sports more poetically beautiful than a heated rivalry, with more hatred between opposing teams making for some of sports' greatest moments.

This is especially true at the collegiate level where rivalries serve as the backbone of college sports. While there are countless rivalries to choose from, 247Sports ranked their top 11 college rivalries with the Texas Longhorns landing on the list twice.

Coming in at No. 11 on their list was the Lone Star Showdown between the Longhorns and bitter in-state rivals, the Texas A&M Aggies. Any list without this rivalry on it would be a list that is hard to take seriously.

The Longhorns and Aggies first met all the way back in 1894, and it has been one of the most heated rivalries in college athletics. While the two teams hate each other across all sports, they hold a special disdain on the football field.

Texas leads the series with an all-time record of 76-37-5 and holds bragging rights from the final game of the series in 2011 before the Aggies left the Big 12 for the SEC. However, with the Longhorns set to join the SEC, this rivalry will find itself renewed once again.

Of course, the other Texas rivalry on this list is the Red River Rivalry between the Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners which landed at No. 5 overall.

There is no love lost between these two college football blue bloods, which paired with the iconic setting of the Cotton Bowl during the Texas State Fair solidifies this rivalry in the lore of college football.

Just like their rivalry with the Aggies, the Longhorns lead the Red Rivalry with an all-time record of 63-50-5 - and the most recent win in the series which came in a 49-0 blowout last season.

When the Longhorns and Sooners make their way to the SEC, Texas will have its two biggest rivals on the schedule consistently for the first time in over a decade, which is a big win for college sports.
