NFL Draft: Bijan Robinson Thinks 'It Would Be Special' to Join Cowboys, Tony Pollard
Bijan Robinson is on pace to be the first Texas Longhorns player to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft since Malcom Brown was picked No. 32 overall in 2015 by the New England Patriots.
And in recent weeks, he has been hinting at his desired landing spots. Among those teams have been the Philadelphia Eagles.
But most recently, Robinson has hinted at the potentially 'special' combination of himself, alongside Dallas Cowboys running back, Tony Pollard.
“If they have the chance to draft me, I think it’d be something special with the running back they do have now in Tony Pollard,” Robinson told Yahoo Sports. “Obviously I want to go anywhere and am happy to be anywhere. … We could talk about it all we want, but we’ll just see on Thursday if it happens.”
Robinson has long been connected as a Dallas Cowboys possibility. Particularly since the Cowboys parted ways with Ezekiel Elliott last month. And in mock draft after mock draft, it has been more and more commonplace for Robinson to end up at the Star.
But while Elliott was more of a downhill, power-type player, Robinson is seen as more of a do-it-all type - something he believes would be very beneficial to whichever team picks him up on Thursday night.
“I’m a guy who can play receiver, play slot, play running back and have just as much of the same effect as when I am playing running back,” Robinson said. “You have a guy who can do all those type of things for their offense and your team and become a game-changer in that type of way? I think that’s when the value really comes in.”
So how realistic is Robinson to Dallas? Frankly not very.
Robinson is seen as a top-5 talent in the draft, and for Dallas to have a shot at him, he would likely have to drop toward at least the second half of the first round, or even into the early 20's.
Either way, there is no denying the potentially 'special' dynamic Robinson could bring to the Cowboys alongside Tony Pollard.
