OFFICIAL: 5-Star OT Brandon Baker Signs With Texas Longhorns
AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Longhorns have officially signed one of the best offensive lineman and overall players in the 2024 class, as Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif) offensive tackle Brandon Baker put pen to paper during the early signing period on Wednesday.
Baker is an elite five-star prospect and is the No. 2 overall offensive tackle in the class, per 247Sports' recruiting rankings. He was pursed by elite programs like Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, Florida State, Arizona and more, but committed to Texas on Sept. 24 right as the Longhorns were off to a 4-0 start.
He admitted that the trajectory he sees Texas on helped factor into his final decision. Blocking for Arch Manning sometime in the future is also something he sees as a bonus.
“The trajectory they’re headed on for sure,” Baker told On3. “The development by one of the best OL Coaches in the nation, and an offensive mind at head coach. Can’t really beat that, they’re headed in the SEC, and you cannot beat blocking for my guy Arch Manning! Life after football is incredible, and the opportunity is endless.”

Baker also has a relationship with Longhorns offensive line coach Kyle Flood. Baker has said that Flood compared him to current Texas star left tackle, Kelvin Banks.
“I’m closest with Coach Flood,” Baker told On3. “His plan for me is to be a key contributor to the team. Comparing me to Kelvin Banks and Jedrick Williams.”
Baker will now look to carve out an impact role along the Longhorns' offensive line as early as next season.
