On October 7, the No. 3 Texas Longhorns are set to take on their biggest rival in No. 14 in the Allstate Red River Rivalry.

The Big 12 conference announced that the game will be at another early 11 a.m. CT, kickoff time (ABC), from inside the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

It will be the 119th meeting between the two, with Texas leading the all-time series with a 63–50–5 overall record, but this last season was the first time they had won in three years. Texas went on to win by a score of 49-0, making it the biggest victory for the Longhorns over the sooner in the game's history.

However, Steve Sarkisian will not let his squad overlook their matchup this weekend against a very sound No. 24 Kansas team on Saturday.

Texas' season has gone smoothly for the most part, beating up on Rice in Week 1 despite a less-than-stellar showing from the offense. They then followed that win up with a win that may be the biggest of the season, as they went on the road and beat an Alabama team that was ranked No. 4 in the country.

A win that catapulted Texas near the top of the rankings, and one that they have been building off ever since. They followed the Alabama win up with another slow start, this time against a Wyoming team. They went on to turn things up in the fourth quarter to win, but it was a poor showing from the offense.

Most recently, Texas blew out Baylor for what was their final meeting as Big 12 foes.

This will be the last time Texas plays Oklahoma as Big 12 foes, as they are both set to make the jump to the SEC next season.
