Quinn Ewers And Caleb Williams Among Heisman Favorites

Texas quarterback Quin Ewers is viewed as a Heisman contender even after a down week in Week 3.

Despite being just three weeks into the season that felt like it took an eternity to get here, we are already looking ahead to end-of-season awards.

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is still relishing in the success he had in a Week 2 win over Alabama which for the most part has clouded some mediocre showings against Rice and Wyoming. In fact, according to BetMGM Ewers is one of the top three favorites for the award trailing only Caleb Williams (USC) and Michael Penix Jr. (Washington).

Ewers will have a chance to really improve his stats and numbers against a frisky Baylor team that has lost to Texas State and Utah who was without their starting quarterback, and was using their third string signal caller. Through three games, Ewers has thrown for 740 yards, eight touchdowns to no interceptions, and is completing a career high 60.7% of his passes. He has also rushed for two scores, which is double what he had last season.

While Ewers and Williams have never crossed paths on the field, and people often forget, coming out of high school Ewers was the No. 1 ranked quarterback while Williams was the No. 2 quarterback in the class. However, when they both entered the transfer portal at the same time, it was Williams who then snatched the No. 1 ranking away from Ewers who was the No. 2 overall player behind the Trojan.

Even looking ahead to the NFL Draft in 2024, Williams is projected to be the No. 1 pick, while Ewers is expected to go later in the first.

These two appeared to be on track to being attached at the hip for the rest of their careers, and appear to encounter one another for the first time this year. It just so happens that they may be doing so in suits in New York.
