The long week of post-LSU storylines has finally come to an end and Texas is ready to put another game under its belt.

The Longhorns travel to NRG tonight for a 7 p.m. showdown with former Southwest Conference foe Rice. Here are some game day links.

Brian Davis of the Austin American Statesman takes a deep dive into Tom Herman's recruiting efforts in Houston. The former head coach of the Cougars hasn't forgotten his H-town base and it's paying major dividends for his current football program.

Speaking of the Statesman, Kirk Bohls takes a look back at the 1964 Rice-Texas matchup. It is the Owls' only win in the last 42 meetings.

In keeping with the historical theme, KVUE News has a story about JFK's famous "why does Rice play Texas" comment in a 1962 speech and how it unintentionally sparked a rivalry.

Burnt Orange Nation took a deep dive into Collin Johnson's start to 2019. Though he hasn't put up monster numbers, he is opening things up for the rest of the offense, particularly Devin Duvernay and Brennan Eagles.

In a wild card story, Texas has an unexpected ally in the locker room debate with LSU in Oklahoma's Lincoln Riley, per 247 Sports.
