Nick Saban Shades Texas, Says Win Over Alabama 'Makes Their Program'
When it comes to Alabama's head coach Nick Saban, he always has a perspective on whatever happens that most people don't think about.
That appears to be the case again when it comes to Alabama's recent loss at the hands of Texas, as Saban dropped a brand new adage that not only boosted Alabama but diminished the win for the Longhorns. A win that boosted Texas from No. 11 in the country all the way up to No. 4, and a win that is viewed by many as a sign that the program is turning around or even...back.
However, while Texas fans have been on cloud nine after the win, Saban recently revealed how little the loss means to Alabama. He also shined light on the fact that some teams need to beat Alabama to build their program.
For those not following at home, Saban essentially is saying that Texas needed to beat Alabama more than Alabama needed to beat Texas.
While comparison of programs is the thief of joy anytime Alabama is involved, this statement also reeks of the fact that Saban is trying to mask how fragile his program is. For arguably the first time in the Saban dynasty it appears that Alabama is nowhere near as feared as they once were.
Regardless, the win was a huge stepping stone for Texas, but unless they build off of it and actually accomplish something like winning the Big 12 or making the playoff it really doesn't mean anything at the end of the day.
