WATCH: Texas WR Xavier Worthy Hauls in Moonshot TD vs. Alabama

Texas Longhorns receiver Xavier Worthy had a big-time touchdown in the first half of Saturday's battle with Alabama.

The Texas Longhorns have finally completed the down-field play that's eluded them since last season.

Tied 3-3 with the No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide in the second quarter of Saturday's clash at Bryant-Denny Stadium, the Longhorns were faced with a chance to seize momentum. They did so in a big way thanks to Quinn Ewers and Xavier Worthy, as the pair made the highlight reels with a 44-yard touchdown connection to give Texas a 10-3 lead.

Worthy bounced back quickly after dropping an easy touchdown on 3rd and goal in the first quarter. The Longhorns had to settle for a field goal as a result, but it's now easy to forget about his early mistake.

Take a look at the highlight:

Worthy was playing quarterback on the play before. He tossed a deep trick-play pass to AD Mitchell, but the Tide were called for pass interference. The penalty helped set up the touchdown a play later.

"I'm talking about like right when we got in the locker room, Sark’s after game speech is 'My feet are in Bryant-Denny Stadium,’” Worthy said on Saturday after Texas' win over Rice. “So I feel like we need to match his energy and be where he’s at."

As for Worthy, he's emerged as a true leader for this team. Based on his talented play, new-found voice, and experience playing the Tide last season, there's no one better to "match the energy" of Sarkisian.

Though the deep connection with Worthy and Quinn Ewers had felt a bit rocky against Rice, the strong rapport between the pair was obvious. Worthy led all receivers with seven catches for 90 yards while adding on a 21-yard punt return.

The two have now added to this momentum in a big way against Alabama.
