Longhorns AD Chris Del Conte Reveals 'Goal' for Potential Changes to Texas A&M, Oklahoma Rivalry Games
AUSTIN -- Texas Longhorns Athletic Director Chris Del Conte spoke at the annual Athletics Town Hall on Tuesday and addressed some potential notable changes that he's hoping will be made in the rivalry games with Oklahoma and Texas A&M as soon as this year.
"One of the things I'm also looking at is moving our OU game to 2:30 on ABC. That'd be fantastic, too," Del Conte said, resulting in a short applause from the audience.
The Longhorns' 2024 schedule is set with games dates, but the Red River Rivalry doesn't officially have it's usual 11 a.m. CT kickoff time just yet. While many fans like to keep to tradition, others have been asking for the start time to be changed.
Del Conte also confirmed that it's the program's "goal" to play Texas A&M every year in the SEC and said that he's looking to get the date changed for future meetings with the Aggies.
"It's important for us to play that rivalry," Del Conte said of A&M. " ... Obviously this year is gonna be played on Saturday, my goal is that we move that game back to Thursday."
