What Is One Question To Ask Texas HC Steve Sarkisian?

The Texas Longhorns have a prime opportunity in 2023 to win the Big 12 and compete for a national championship, but will they seize the opportunity?
In this story:

There are many feasible questions to ask Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian ahead of the 2023 season.

Will Quinn Ewers make the necessary leap to superstardom? How is Arch Manning progressing and will he be ready to take the reins after Ewers' NFL departure? Can the running backs even begin to scratch the surface in replacing the loss of Bijan Robinson next year?

If Sarkisian were to have to answer any of those three questions, he would most certainly take the high road and say something along the lines that Ewers is good, Manning will be good and Keilan Robinson, Jonathon Brooks and CJ Baxter are all — you guessed it — good.

But what if you could eliminate the coach speak and get a true response? The Athletic's Sam Khan Jr. recently did this and his question for Sarkisian if guaranteed an honest answer: what is truly standing in the way of Texas reaching college football’s elite?

"The Longhorns’ average recruiting ranking the past 10 years is behind only Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and LSU, yet they’ve only had one 10-win season and no conference championships in that span," Khan wrote. "Texas has the money, fan base, facilities and recruiting footprint. So what gives?"
