2024 Four-Star Longhorns Target Danny Okoye Taking Texas Official Visit In June

The Texas Longhorns have the No. 64 recruiting class and three commitments in the 2024 cycle.

The Texas Longhorns will be the first official visit for Danny Okoye in his recruitment, he announced on Twitter Sunday.

Okoye will be in Austin June 16, according to 247Sports. A four-star No. 10 edge rusher in the class of 2024, according to On3, Okoye has Texas in his top 10 schools along with Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Colorado, Georgia, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Oregon.

The only unofficial visit Okoye has taken so far has been to Oklahoma, but he plans to take one to Tennessee June 23 — a team he told On3 speaks to him almost every other day — while going on most of his visits during the fall before making a decision, according to On3.

“I like the coaches who show interest in me and they care enough about me as an athlete to tell me how they would use me, not just that they need me,” Okoye told On3. “I like a coach who knows what he wants from me and can give me a task to execute without me having to go in there and wonder what I have to do to make an impact.”

Okoye played on both sides of the ball as a junior at NOAH Homeschool in Tulsa, OK. He recorded 43 tackles, 16 for loss, six sacks, an interception and a forced fumble on defense, while notching 64 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground and catching six passes for 58 yards and one score.

In a pure edge-rusher-only role in his sophomore season, he tore up opposing offensive tackles, recording 78 tackles and 21 for loss with 10.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
