Texas LB Jaylan Ford's Reveals Favorite All-Time Longhorns

Longhorns linebacker Jaylan Ford is like most kids who grew up in the Lone Star State, watching and loving Texas football.

Every young football player in Texas dreams of being the best player in the Lone Star State.

Texas linebacker Jaylan Ford is certainly up there among the best the state has to offer at the collegiate level and as a Frisco, TX. native, he certainly watched his fair share of Longhorns football as a kid. He met with ESPN's Hannah Wing at Big 12 Media Days and discussed his favorite all-time Texas football players.

"Growing up, Colt McCoy for sure," Ford said on ESPNU July 12. "I used to watch Vince Young, D.J. Johnson, watch their highlights, a lot of guys. I remember Quandre Diggs, Earl Thomas, all the Texas guys."

As Ford enters on his fourth year in Austin, he is hoping to build off his First Team All-Big 12 selection in which he recorded 119 tackles, 10 for loss, two sacks, four interceptions, three forced fumbles and two recoveries.

The Preseason Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year is one of the best-returning linebackers in the country and will likely be among the position's top options in the 2024 NFL Draft.

With a 160-tackle season, Ford will crack the top 10 of the most career tackles in Longhorns history.

There have been many great players to grow up in and come through the Lone Star State in its rich history of football, and Ford said he's thankful to be a part of it and write his own story on the gridiron in Texas.

"Growing up in Texas, you see Texas football, and now that I'm able to live out some of the same dreams that they are is pretty amazing," Ford said.
