Longhorns RB Jaydon Blue Ranked Among Fastest Players in College Football
AUSTIN -- The Texas Longhorns have had a wealth of talent at the running back position over the last few seasons, as Steve Sarkisian and Tashard Choice have brought Texas back to the unofficial "RBU" standards the program is used to.
Could Jaydon Blue be the fastest of the bunch? According to the numbers, he might be challenging former teammate Bijan Robinson in straight-line speed.
Bleacher Report listed eight of its fastest players in college football in no particular order and included Blue, as he met B/R's criteria of having reached a max speed of 21.8 miles per hour or higher during a game this past season. Other players on the list included Wyoming running back Harrison Waylee, Baylor QB Dequan Finn and Colorado running back Dylan Edwards, among others.
In a 57-7 win over Texas Tech in the regular-season finale, Blue hit a max speed of 22.3 miles per hour on a 69-yard touchdown.
Blue rushed just 15 times for 33 yards across three games as a freshman, but stepped up into a key RB3 role for the Texas backfield this past season.
However, after starting running back Jonathon Brooks went down with a season-ending ACL tear, Blue and Baxter had to step as a complementary one-two punch in place of the workhorse-like load Brooks had in the offense.

Blue finished 2023 with 65 carries for 398 yards and three touchdowns along with 14 catches for 135 yards and another score.
This was highlighted by the career-high 121 yards on 10 carries head had in that win over Texas Tech. Blue ended the season with a touchdown in three straight games, including in the College Football Playoff loss to Washington.
