Texas Longhorns Linebacker Jett Bush Declares For NFL Draft

The Texas Longhorns are losing yet another experienced player to the NFL Draft.

On Monday, Texas Longhorns linebacker Jett Bush took to Instagram to reveal what his plans were for next season.

The fifth-year linebacker who walked on when Tom Herman was the head coach, announced that he would be declaring for the NFL Draft via Instagram. He went from playing sparingly for the Longhorns, to having of a key role on defense over the past couple of seasons. 

In his post, he thanked the fans, coaches, and teammates that he met along the way.

Jett Bush returns an interception for a touchdown 

“Dear University of Texas and Texas fans,

“I am extremely grateful for the unconditional support and incredible experiences during my time with the University of Texas. The memories created on and off the field will forever hold a special place in my heart. With my next chapter coming up, I am excited to announce my decision to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.

“Everyone’s encouragement, especially Coach (Jeff) Choate, Coach K (Pete Kwiatkowski), and Coach Sark, has fueled my journey, and I carry the pride of being a Longhorn into this new chapter. Hook ’em," wrote Bush.

Bush ended up playing in all 14 games this season for Texas, tying his career high in total tackles with 17, a career-high two sacks, and also nabbed his first career interception which he returned for a touchdown against in-state rival Texas Tech. 

Bush joins the long list of players from this past season who have left the Longhorns to declare for the NFL Draft, joining names like Xavier Worthy, Adonai Mitchell, T'Vondre Sweat, and Ryan Watts among others.
