Texas has extended an offer to four-star offensive tackle PJ Williams

The Dickinson, Texas product is ranked the No. 9 offensive tackle, No. 19 player in the state of Texas and the No. 88 overall prospect in the 2022 class according to 247Sports.

The Longhorns are the 17th program to offer Williams after Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Duke, Georgia Tech, Hawaii, Houston, LSU, Michigan, Nevada, Oklahoma State, Penn State, SMU, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.

Watching his film: The first thing that stands out about Williams' film is his footwork. Though he was just a sophomore last year he always seems to be taking the best possible path to get where he's supposed to be. Much of his game seems to stem from that strength including his balance, explosion, punch and ability to lock onto defenders will pulling or trapping. The better offensive linemen make the difficult look easy and Williams would certainly fall into that category.

That being said, the will-be junior is far from his ceiling as a player. At only 245 pounds, he'll have to continue to work in the weight room to add the right kind of size, but his 6-foot-4 frame shows plenty of room to support it.

Where Texas stands: You get the feeling we are just at the beginning of the teams that are going to make a run for Williams. There's just so much star potential and he seems to have barely scratched the surface. The Longhorns are going to have to play the long game as the in-state prospect weeds through his offers, but offensive line coach Herb Hand seems to be dug in for a battle.
