Longhorns 'Every F***** Week!': Ex Sooners Coach Barry Switzer 'Concerned' About Move to SEC
When former Oklahoma Sooners and Super Bowl-winning coach Barry Switzer speaks, it’d be wise to listen.
And his recent comments on the Big 12-SEC transition for the Sooners and Texas Longhorns are hardly ones to ignore, as he admitted he’s concerned about OU’s transition while making his annoyance with Texas known.
“I’m concerned,” Switzer told the Tulsa World. “I know what it’ll look like. It’ll look like we’re playing Texas every (expletive) week.”
An agreement was reached Thursday with the Longhorns and Sooners to exit the Big 12 Conference after the 2023-24 athletic year concludes, paving the way for the two schools to play their first season of SEC football in the fall of 2024.
But Switzer didn’t bother hiding his lack of confidence in the Sooners, who had their lowest of low points this past season after a 49-0 loss to the Longhorns.
“You’ve got to be good,” Switzer said. “I don’t know if we’re good enough right now. We’ll have to get better on defense.”
Switzer is clearly tired of the Longhorns and frustrated with the Sooners, but it’s something he’ll continue having to deal with for the foreseeable future until everyone gets used to the transition.
