Texas Longhorns Players Flying Off The Board In Latest NFL Mock Draft
The Texas Longhorns burst onto the college football scene in 2023, and we may not be done seeing their success.
With the NFL Draft approaching, Texas has a handful of players that will certainly be catching the eyes of scouts and teams. With each new NFL mock draft that is released, there seems to be an influx of players from Texas being taken. That was the case in a recent mock by FanNation's NFL Draft insider, Luke Easterling.
In total, Easterling had seven Texas players taken in the first three rounds, with a new Longhorn making his first appearance in a top-three-round mock.
Christian Jones, OL
Team: Arizona Cardinals
Pick: 71
Round: 3
Christian Jones had a strong Senior Bowl showing, which makes sense as to why he is now rising up draft boards. He has benefited the most from the Sarkisian era, going from liability to draft hopeful.
Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE
Team: Carolina Panthers
Pick: 65
Round: 3
Sanders is projected as the first player off the board in the third round. He is a massive target that comes down with every catch, which is a quarterback's best friend.
Jonathon Brooks, RB
Team: Dallas Cowboys
Pick: 56
Round: 2
Brooks saw his season come to an end thanks to a torn ACL, but he is still viewed as the best back in the class. This scenario has him staying in Texas, and providing the Cowboys with the lead back they are missing.
Xavier Worthy, WR
Team: New Orleans Saints
Pick: 45
Round: 2
Worthy is someone who will get some looks in the first round and has even been mocked to go in the opening round. He has the speed and route running, but is undersized and did have a drops issue.
Adonai Mitchell, WR
Team: Tennessee Titans
Pick: 38
Round: 2
The Titans have a promising young quarterback, and need weapons around him. Adonai Mitchell is a deep ball threat that often comes down with jump balls.
T'Vondre Sweat, DL
Team: Arizona Cardinals
Pick: 35
Round: 2
After a career year, T'Vondre Sweat has played his way into being a possible first. He is a massive body that is impossible to move, and will help bolster the run defense.
Byron Murphy II, DL
Team: Houston Texans
Pick: 23
Round: 1
The Longhorns have had four players projected to end up in the first, but it is typically Byron Murphy II who is a consistent first. He will help decimate the opponent's run games.
