Texas Longhorns Pursuing Former Deion Sanders, Colorado Pledge Aaron Butler
While much of college football is focused on the ongoing event that is the transfer portal, fans need not forget that early signing day is right around the corner.
For a team like the Texas Longhorns which already has a top-15 class, there is still room for improvement and ways to bolster their class. As we recently learned they are targeting and making a push for four-star athlete Aaron Butler, who not too long ago backed off his pledge to Colorado.
According to a report by 247Sports' Greg Biggins (Paid Content), Butler and his family recently hosted Texas' wide receivers coach Chris Jackson for an in-home visit. The Longhorns aren't the only school making a push for him either according to the report.
Biggins also revealed that two current Pac-12 programs in Arizona and Washington, which Texas is playing in their College Football Playoff game are in the mix as well. When it comes to Butler, he is viewed as having two-way abilities, and that seemed to be the plan for him at Colorado.
According to 247Sports, he ranks as the No. 88 player in the country, the No. 6 athlete, and the No. 8 California. His recruitment has taken a couple of twists and turns, as prior to his Colorado commitment he was pledged to Lincoln Riley and USC.
The Calabasas product opted to not finish out his high school season and instead focused on preparing to enroll early back in September. The Longhorns have a need at both wide receiver and in the secondary next season thanks to veteran players departing, but this won't be an easy recruitment to win.
