How Does Potential Quinn Ewers Return Affect Arch Manning's Future With Texas Longhorns?

Speculation is swirling that Texas Longhorns backup QB Arch Manning will transfer following the news that Quinn Ewers is expected to return to Austin.
In this story:

AUSTIN, TX -- Texas Longhorns fans got some great news on Tuesday, with reports surfacing that star quarterback Quinn Ewers is expected to return for his junior season on the 40 Acres.

However, with that news, and given the current college football landscape, transfer rumors surrounding freshman Arch Manning - while completely unsubstantiated -have naturally begun to swirl on social media.

After all, after coming to Austin as the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2023 class, Manning has not played a single down in his true freshman season. But are there really any legs to those rumors? No. Not yet at least.

That said, they are certainly understandable. Manning is as high profile of a recruit in the history of the modern era, and there is no doubt that top-tier programs would be lining up to be his new home and give him an opportunity to shine.

That said, all indications are that Manning is perfectly happy with his decision to come to Austin, and will await his opportunity to battle for the starting job whenever Ewers does decide to leave for the NFL.

"Arch is happy with the decision he made," Manning's grandfather Archie told the Spun. "All the reports we get is that he’s doing well. He’s going to get a redshirt out of this year, and I think that’s important."

Of course, in the event that Ewers decides to return for a potential senior season, that could change the equation quite a bit.

But until that happens, or Manning decides that his top priority is to play as soon as possible, those rumors will remain just that - rumors - and nothing more.
