WATCH: Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers Connects With Jordan Whittington For Huge Touchdown

The Texas Longhorns are taking on the Iowa State Cyclones for the final time as conference foes.

For their Week 12 matchup, the No. 7 Texas Longhorns are on the road taking on the Iowa State Cyclones.

With intensity building up all week long thanks to comments made by a Cyclones offensive lineman Jarrod Hufford that accused Texas of having an ego, this game was a straight-up rock fight for the first two-and-a-half quarters. The Longhorns built a 6-3 lead thanks to Bert Auburn, and didn't find paydirt until there were under six minutes remaining in the third quarter. This can also be attributed to two called-back scores in the first half.

After leaning on five-star freshman and running back CJ Baxter to move down the field, Texas' head coach Steve Sarkisian drew up the perfect play on 3rd and 1 on the Iowa State 23-yard line. The Longhorn offense executed the play-action pass, as Quinn Ewers lobbed a rainbow to a wide-open Jordan Whittington for the touchdown.

The score gave the Longhorns a 13-3 lead, giving them some much-needed breathing room from the Cyclones who had been hanging around all game long.

However, the lead didn't stay at 10 points for very long as Iowa State answered with a seven-play, 83-yard drive that resulted in a touchdown on a wheel route in the red zone that Texas often uses against opponents. Luckily for Texas, when the Cyclones went to kick the field goal to make it a three-point game, T'Vondre Sweat got his massive hand up and blocked the extra-point attempt. Defensive back Austin Jordan picked up the ball and took it the distance for a two-point return to extend Texas' lead to 15-9.

This game has the makings of one that will go down to the wire.
