Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers Poised for 'Bounce-Back' Season?

After an inconsistent freshman season, Quinn Ewers is ready to bounce back in a big way for the Longhorns in 2023.

Entering year three under Steve Sarkisian, the Texas Longhorns do so with high expectations. They took a step forward in Sarkisian's second year and now look to take another one, one that sees them get back to the conference championship game.

That step, though, could hinge on the success of second-year quarterback Quinn Ewers. After a freshman season filled with ups and downs, Bleacher Report believes the Texas quarterback is poised for a bounce-back season in 2023.

Whether or not Ewers has to "bounce back" from an inconsistent freshman season is another question, but he is certainly capable. He finished last season throwing for 2,177 yards with 15 touchdowns and six interceptions but completed just 58.1 percent of his passes.

The last time we saw Ewers in actual game action was the Alamo Bowl loss to Washington in which he completed 31-of-47 passes for 369 yards and a touchdown. He followed that strong performance up with rave reviews throughout spring practice and completed 16-of-23 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown in the Orange-White game.

Ewers undeniably has all the talent in the world to be the guy that completely unlocks Sarkisian's offense. That talent, paired with a plethora of weapons such as Xavier Worthy and AD Mitchell, is plenty of reason to believe he can put it all together this season.

Of course, all the talent and weapons in the world won't make a difference if he can't consistently string together performances like he had in the Alamo Bowl. If he does, though, then this could be a special season for the Longhorns quarterback.
