Special Assistant Joe DeCamillis Leaving Longhorns for South Carolina
AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Longhorns hired former Los Angeles Rams special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis as special assistant to the head coach in an off-field role ahead of last season.
But after just one season in Austin, DeCamillis is now on his way to South Carolina in the same role, according to reports.
Last season with the Longhorns DeCamillis helped mold Texas into one of the best special teams units in the country, with the Horns excelling in every aspect of the phase.
Whether it was place kicking, coverage, returns, punting, or anything in between, the Texas special teams unit was elite in every way, and played a key role in the team reaching their first ever College Football Playoff.

All 32 years of DeCamillis' NFL experience have been spent on special teams. He's coached with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos and Rams.
He'll now look to bring some of his championship-winning wisdom to the Gamecocks while being a key set of eyes for Shane Beamer when it comes to the smallest of details.
