Texas Star WR Xavier Worthy Declares for NFL Draft

The Texas Longhorns have lost of their very best to the NFL Draft, in wide receiver Xavier Worthy

The Texas Longhorns ended their season in heartbreaking loss to the Washington Huskies in the Sugar Bowl on Monday night. 

And as of Tuesday, it will also be the last game for one of their best players - and arguably one of the best in school history - with star wide receiver Xavier Worthy declaring for the NFL Draft.

"My time here at the University of Texas has been filled with highs, lows, lessons, and blessings," Worthy said in an Instagram video. "All of them are part of my journey and who I am today. I will be eternally grateful to those who have always believed in and supported me. My mom, family, day 1s coaches football brothers, and real fans. To play the sport I love at this level with some of the most talented guys in the game is a blessing I don't take for granted, and I will continue to be thankful for."

"With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft."

Worthy ends his Texas career as the fouth all-time leading receiver, catching 198 passes for 2,755 yards and 26 touchdowns. 

This season with the Horns, he also earned All-American honors and was arguably the best punt returner in college football, with 371 return yards and a touchdown, averaging 16.9 yards per return. 

If Worthy is drafted in the first round, it would be the first time since 2004 that a Texas pass catcher has gone in the first, as Roy Williams was the last to do so.
