Steve Sarkisian Seeing 'Aggressive, Physical & Smart' Play From Longhorns

The Texas Longhorns are undefeated so far this season, but that does not mean much to Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Following Texas' 31-10 victory over the Wyoming Cowboys on Saturday, Longhorns' head coach Steve Sarkisian spoke of what he has enjoyed seeing from his roster this season: the communication, effort and level of play at the quarterback position.

“I think all those things add up to we’re playing a style of football that’s fast, that’s aggressive, that’s physical, and it’s smart," Sarkisian said. "If we can keep going down that path, we’re going to be okay.”

However, Sarkisian understands that being undefeated so far this season does not mean anything to the Big 12 unless they can finish the season strong.

“The Big 12 doesn’t care that we’re 3-0," Sarkisian said. "The Big 12 doesn’t care that we’re ranked No. 3 in the AP poll. We are 0-0 in Big 12 play.”

On Saturday, the Longhorns will be hitting the road to play the Baylor Bears, for possibly the last time in program history which means the environment may be like no other.

“I think we need to understand what we’re walking into," Sarkisian said. "We’re going to go into Baylor here Saturday night on the road. It’s been well documented, as of right now, this is the last time we’re going to go there. So we understand the environment we’re walking into, so we can’t be fearful of that.”

The best thing the Longhorns can do to showcase their fearlessness is through their play on the field.

“We can’t sit here and be a punching bag," Sarkisian said. "We have to walk in there, be in attack mode, and make sure that we’re built for the environment.”
