Texas Longhorns Coach Steve Sarkisian Expects 'Physical' Matchup vs. Kansas State Wildcats
Win, win, win...That is all that is on the mind of Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and the rest of the Longhorns' roster. The only way to end up playing in the Big 12 Championship matchup at the end of the season is to win games.
Right now though, Sarkisian is taking it one game at a time, focusing on their current opponent, the Kansas State Wildcats.
During his press conference on Monday, Sarkisian seemed to use the term 'physicality' quite often when referring to past matchups against the Wildcats.
"I think this game is about toughness," Sarkisian said. "Just look back at the last two years, the way these games have gone. Two years ago, we were playing with half of a quarterback, played wildcat, didn't know a whole lot of passes and ran the ball. They were running the ball with Deuce (Vaughn). Last year with Bijan (Robinson) and Roschon (Johnson), it was a real tough, hard-nosed, physical game there as well."
Even though both teams have made changes to their rosters and big-named players on both sides of the field, such as Vaughn, Robinson and Roschon Johnson, Sarkisian expects to see similar competitiveness on Saturday in comparison to years prior.
Sarkisian predicts that both teams will utilize their running backs quite often on offense.
"I don't see this game being a whole lot different," Sarkisian said. "Two teams that believe in running the ball. Two teams that pride themselves on being physical, being tough and being disciplined."
The Horns and Wildcats will kick off at 11 a.m. Saturday in Austin.
