Texas Longhorns' Steve Sarkisian Provides Injury Update vs. Kansas State Wildcats

The Texas Longhorns still have some key injuries to monitor ahead of Saturday's meeting with the Kansas State Wildcats.

AUSTIN, Texas -- The No. 7 Texas Longhorns are hosting the No. 25 Kansas State Wildcats in Austin on Saturday in a game that holds some major do-or-die Big 12 Championship berth implications.

As is the case for most teams at this point in the season, the Longhorns are still dealing with some issues on the injury front. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian updated injuries for some key players when speaking to the media on Monday.

Sarkisian said that defensive end Ethan Burke (knee), safety Jalen Catalon and quarterback Quinn Ewers (shoulder) are all still "week-to-week."

Luckily for the Longhorns, cornerback Ryan Watts returned in the win over BYU after a two-game absence. He had last played in the 40-14 win over the Kansas Jayhawks on Sept. 30.

As for Ewers, another absence, though currently unofficial, paves the way for Maalik Murphy once again. Ewers could return by the end of the regular season based on Sarkisian's updates, but there remains no official timetable for him.

The Longhorns are also still dealing with some injuries from players that will suit up against Kansas State. Safety Jahdae Barron continues to battle some pain that kept him out of the first half of the Houston game and caused him to lay on the turf for a bit against BYU after landing awkwardly.

Additionally, running back Jonathon Brooks limped off the field and took a rest for a few plays against BYU before ultimately finishing the game. Both guys are banged up, but there's been no word from Sarkisian that this will impact their availability.

Texas and Kansas State kickoff from DKR on Saturday against 11 a.m. CT.
