Longhorns 'Still Have a Mission' Following Loss to Sooners
The Texas Longhorns came up short to the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday in Dallas in the last Red River Rivalry Showdown in the Big 12.
A major downfall to the Horns' loss was their inability to score on the one-yard line in the second half.
"We just weren't able to execute it again and sometimes it happens," Texas running back Jonathon Brooks said. "So I mean, I think we just need to go back into practice and really focus on short yardage."
Aside from the loss, Brooks is proud of the fight that the Longhorn roster put into the game and is hopeful for the rest of the season.
"We just didn't execute but we fought hard," Brooks said. "I think everything that we want is still ahead of us. So I think we need to sneak on the bye week and prepare and get ready for this."
This upcoming Saturday is Texas' bye week which means that it will be a time of reflection and a work towards improvement.
"Just kind of rebuild our body, get our bodies back," Brooks said. "Just refocus on what the mission is and just come back and play even harder."
Brooks wants to take this loss as a learning opportunity for the Horns. He realizes that one game does not define the entire season and that the most they can do is keep their heads held high.
"I feel like everyone's confident knowing that we still have a mission," Brooks said. "And I think everything that we want and need is right in front of us. So I feel like we just kind of got to feel from this loss and just be positive about it."
