Texas Longhorns Transfer WR Casey Cain Announces Commitment to UNLV Rebels
AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Longhorns transfer receiver Casey Cain has found himself a new home via the portal.
Cain announced on social media Thursday that he'll be transferring to UNLV where he'll join former Texas receivers coach Brennan Marion, who is currently the Rebels' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Cain will keep practicing with the Longhorns as they prepare for the College Football Playoff.
While coaches usually never like to see players leave their program, reuniting with a former talented Longhorns assistant in Marion could do wonders for Cain, who will be entering his junior season after redshirting his first year in Austin in 2021.
Cain fell well behind on the depth chart this season despite there being an expectation entering the fall that he could be a solid complementary receiver in Steve Sarkisian's offense.
However, Cain has just one catch for 13 yards so far this season after playing in 13 games and making three starts in 2022.

He shined in a few big moments last season, posting eight catches for 201 yards. Cain caught a 29-yard pass late in the fourth quarter against Alabama in Sept. 2022 that set the Longhorns up in go-ahead field goal range. Despite taking the lead thanks to his efforts, Texas still lost 20-19.
In the Alamo Bowl against Washington, Cain stepped up with four catches for a career-high 108 yards.
Cain, a New Orleans native, will get to be a part of Texas' CFP journey to the Sugar Bowl, as the No. 3 Longhorns prepare to face No. 2 Washington on New Year's Day.
