Urban Meyer Reveals Why Texas is Best in Nation: 'Top to Bottom!'

"Alabama tried to keep it close but it really wasn’t close," said Urban Meyer of Saturday's meeting between the Texas Longhorns and Alabama Crimson Tide.

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Longhorns have taken the national stage after defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide, 34-24, in Tuscaloosa on Saturday to give the program its best win in recent memory.

The Longhorns now head into Saturday's meeting at home with the Wyoming Cowboys looking to go undefeated in non-conference play as they boast their new No. 4 ranking in the AP Poll.

But former Ohio State and NFL coach Urban Meyer doesn't think that the No. 4 ranking is indicative of how elite the Longhorns are this season.

“Top to bottom, Texas is, I think, the best team in the country,” Meyer said during a recent episode of 'Urban’s Take with Tim May.' “I thought that, going into the season, if they stayed healthy and if they just figured out things — Texas, you can’t go back and say ‘Texas hasn’t had players.’ That’s nonsense. There was something wrong, and whatever was wrong seemed to be figured out.”

Meyer pointed toward the work of coach Steve Sarkisian and the rest of the Texas staff as to why Saturday's win over the Tide was so convincing.

“They were really well coached,” Meyer said. “They beat Alabama. It was one of the few games I really got to watch. Alabama tried to keep it close but it really wasn’t close.”

Meyer has continuously been an open believer in Texas since the offseason, but getting sucked into all the praise is the last thing that Sarkisian wants his team to do. The Longhorns will need to block out all the noise - both good and bad - ahead of Saturday's clash with Wyoming.
