AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Longhorns and Kansas State Wildcats will kickoff at 11 a.m. CT next Saturday from Austin, the Big 12 announced.

The matchup marks one of the biggest games of the Big 12 season and has major conference championship berth implications. Texas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Iowa State all have a 4-1 record in conference play and are tied atop the Big 12 record-wise as of Saturday night, Oct. 28.

A win for Texas or Kansas State could potentially deal a major blow to the loser with just four weeks left in the regular season.

The Longhorns (7-1) will likely have to try and beat Kansas State behind the arm of Maalik Murphy, who made his first-career start in a 35-6 win over the BYU Cougars on Saturday. Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers (right shoulder) hasn't officially been ruled out for the game, but his "week-to-week" designation and overall tone from Steve Sarkisian when providing a previous update on Ewers makes it seem highly unlikely that he'll recover in time to play.

Murphy finished the win over BYU 16 of 25 passing for 170 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also lost a fumble.

But the Longhorns topped BYU thanks to an all-around team effort, something Sarkisian praised after the win.

"Our versatility shows up when the flow of the game starts to unfold, especially in the second half, that we’re able to adapt and adjust to what’s happening," Sarkisian said. "The other thing that’s encouraging for me is I think our best football is still out there."
