WATCH: Longhorns WR Xavier Worthy Scores Much-Needed TD vs. Wyoming
AUSTIN, Texas -- The No. 4 Texas Longhorns had struggled on offense for most of Saturday's meeting with the Wyoming Cowboys in Austin. But on the third play of the fourth quarter, Texas receiver Xavier Worthy made it a point to end the offensive cold spell on his own.
After receiving a short pass behind the line of scrimmage from Quinn Ewers, Worthy sprinted down the sideline and past the Wyoming defense on his way to the end zone for a 44-yard score. The touchdown put Texas in front 17-10 after Wyoming had tied things up at 10-10.
The score was the 23rd of Worthy's collegiate career, which puts him third all-time in program history for receiving touchdowns.
Take a look:
Worthy now has his second touchdown of the season after scoring in last week's win over Alabama. After taking down the Crimson Tide, he spoke about how he's seen the culture within the program change so far this season.
"I feel like this shows how our culture has gotten better," Worthy said. "It shows how we stay together as a team. Like I've been saying, the culture here is stronger than ever. I feel like we came in here as one ... and showed that we are really together and we have something going on."
After the touchdown, Worthy was up to four catches for 56 yards for the game. With the Longhorns still holding a one-possession lead at 17-10, he'll look to add to this total as the fourth quarter continues on.
