Thompson had 38 tackles, seven passes defended and three interceptions this season, taking one of those picks back for a touchdown.
As a senior, Crawford had 24 total tackles and one tackle for loss, with an interception in the Big 12 Championship game.
These decisions hardly come as a surprise for the Longhorns with their playing time and production decreasing throughout the year in favor of freshman Derek Williams and Michael Taaffe.
And with Xavier Filsaime and Andrew Mukuba also on their way to Austin, both of their roles were likely set to decrease even more.
Third-string QB Charles Wright, also entered the portal on Friday.

Now, recruiting analysts are making their crystal ball predictions, which is giving some life to the speculation of Moore joining Texas.
247 Sports recruiting analysts Jordan Scruggs and Hank South both submitted their official predictions for Moore on Thursday, saying that Texas will be his portal destination after a incredible individual season with the Roadrunners.
Moore posted 14 sacks during the regular season, the third-most in FBS. In 2022, he had eight sacks and two forced fumbles.
Should these predictions come true, Texas and coach Steve Sarkisian would be getting one of the country's most promising pass-rushers.

In 12 games, Nolen totaled 37 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and four sacks. His ability to close gaps helped A&M feature one of the top FBS run defenses and added a second element to the pass rush up the middle.
Nolen, a native of Powell, Tenn., committed to A&M over other top SEC programs, including Florida, Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee. He was the highest-rated recruit to sign with A&M since 2000, and was the headline addition to the Aggies' No. 1 recruiting class in 2022.
